This is my fourth addition from the National Parks pack, I really like the pack especially the 1300s. At first I wasn't sure about the colour blocking but once I had them in person and on foot it changed my mind. I managed to get these for steal of a price from Donald Machera who wore them once and didn't fit them. Stay tuned to my YouTube channel for a on foot video.

The release pictures for these were great so I thought I would take my own angle and change up the colour blocking a bit. I first saw a glimpse of these on a trip to South Africa in January this year, I was invited to NB HQ and was lucky enough to see a sample and get the story behind the details explained. To be honest I was less than impressed with the choice to use a 574 and so didn't think much of it, but now after having it in my hands and looking at the details and the materials chosen I really, really like them.

The shoe is inspired by the city of Johannesburg in South Africa, the city was founded on gold mining hence the gold speckled midsole, along with that Joburg is also famous for its thunder storms which is shown by the weather pattern on the logo. We also see the "Parktown Prawn" graphic on the insole, hangtag and dust bag, this cricket is particularly common in Parktown, Joburg and perhaps made famous by the District 9 movie.  Finally the African insignia on the heel is traditional African design from the same region.

The amount of detail that has gone into this shoe really impresses me, from the contrast stitching to the amazing colour blocking to the use of both New Balance logos on the heel. Along with that there are the two options for logo colours, the yellow lace tips and the added dust bag. This shoe definitely impresses in person. Don't sleep global release on the 29th of April.

Latest Pickup: Asics Gel Lyte Speed

My latest pickup is a sample pair of Asics Gel Lyte Speed, found these while browsing Trade Me they were a great price so I couldn't resist. As far as I know they are a winter release from 2009. The actual release ditched the black and pink pinstripe laces but I'm loving them along with the colour way.

Latest Pickup: Adidas All Heroes

My latest pickup was last years Qubic store collab with The All Blacks and Adidas. The Adidas Campus 80's x Qubic Store x All Black "All Heroes". 100 hundred pairs were released with #1-15 coming in a special metal box. This is the first time the All Black franchise has ever collaborated on a shoe. Along with the release of the shoes Qubic released limited numbers of collectible cards featuring super hero remakes of 4 former and current All Blacks namely Dan Carter, Jonah Lomu, Sonny Bill Williams and Liam Messam. I was fortunate to come across these on trade me for $100 they have been worn 3 times but just need a clean up for the soles. They also came with the Qubic bag, og box, merino socks, receipt, sticker pack, special tissue paper and unopened pack of cards. I am really stoked with these and they definitely make my top 5. The materials on the shoes are amazing and the leather is so soft. Check out my pics below as well as the links to clips and articles about the release.
